Mari-Liis Uibo started her violin studies with Ivi Tivik at the Tallinn Music High School. At the age of 15, she continued her violin studies in Vienna, Austria. In 2012, she graduated from the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna with a Bachelor’s Degree under the supervision of Prof. Gerhard Schulz (former member of the Alban Berg Ensemble). In 2014, she earned her summa cum laude Master’s Degree in Artist Diploma program from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, the USA with Prof. Milan Vitek.

Mari-Liis has successfully participated in several national and international competitions. She is the laureate of the 1st International Competition for Young Violinist in Trento (Italy, 2004), the finalist of the 25th International Flame Competition (Paris, France), the winner of Oberlin Conservatory of Music’s annual Danenberg Honors Recital (both in soloist and chamber music category) and received diplomas at ESTA Estonia competition for young string players. Since 2001, Mari-Liis Uibo has regularly participated in summer courses and masterclasses of Ivry Gitlis, Prof. Alexander Fischer, Prof. Anatoli Reznikovski, Prof. Per Enoksson, Ilia Korol, Elena Denisova, Areta Zhulla and Sirpa Lannes-Tukiainen. She has taken part in ISA 09 and ISA 11 – contemporary music class with Klangforum Wien (Sophie Schafleitner and Nigel Osborne) and Professional String Quartet Training Program directed by Jupiter String Quartet.

Since 1998, Mari-Liis Uibo has been a frequent performer at different Estonian and international music festivals. She has successfully performed as a soloist with Estonian National Symphony Orchestra, Glasperlenspiel Sinfonietta, Tver Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra Russian Camerata, chamber orchestra Moscow Virtuosos and Sinfonietta Rīga. She has participated in several orchestra projects, e.g. orchestra of the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, early music ensemble Hortus Musicus (artistic director Andres Mustonen), Oberlin contemporary music ensemble and has held the concertmaster position with Oberlin Conservatory’s chamber and symphony orchestra. She has collaborated with conductors Paavo Järvi, Vladimir Spivakov, Darrell Ang, Andrei Kruzhkov, Dmitry Banaev, Andres Mustonen, Paul Mägi, Naoki Sugiyama, Timothy Weiss and Raphael Jiménez and performs with different chamber ensembles.

Concert tours have taken Mari-Liis Uibo to Finland, Sweden, Norway, Italy, France (series New Europe, Young Talents), The Netherlands, Germany (Forum junger Künstler), Portugal, Austria, Malta, Turkey, Iran, China, Russia, USA (Oberlin Conservatory 2013 Illumination Tour in NYC) and Canada. In 2016, she made her Kennedy Centre Millennium Stage debut as a soloist and chamber musician.

Mari-Liis Uibo was awarded the scholarship of the Vladimir Spivakov International Charity Foundation. Since 2019, she hosts programs in Estonian classical music radio Klassikaraadio. She performs music by Estonian composers on CD „Bernsteinstraße“ (Musica Delicata, 2007) with organist Ulla Krigul.
