Vsevolod Pozdejev’s portrait concerts

Vsevolod Pozdejev’s two composer’s recitals entitled Sulamit (A hero from Old Testament, Song of Songs) will take place on November 23 in History Museum of the Tartu University and on November 26 in Tallinn History Museum at 7 pm. The concerts feature five pieces, of which four are the first performances: Sonata, Fantasy on Theme E-B-A, Dream of White Conservatory, suite In Land of Memories for piano with four hands, and cantata Sulamit. The cantata is originally composed for soprano and symphony orchestra, in the concert the work is performed with piano reduction. The work is based on texts from Old Testament, Song of Songs in poetical translation by Irina Jevsa. The music will be performed by Estonian soprano Pille Lill, pianist Eva Vorobjova and Vsevolod Pozdejev.

Vsevolod Pozdejev has studied trumpet at the Tallinn Children’s Music School and piano at the Tallinn Georg Ots Music School with Mare Ots. In 2007, he graduated with master's degree from the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre, where he studied piano with Valdur Roots. He has complemented his studies as an exchange student at the Helsinki Sibelius Academy with Tarja Penttinen. Over his studying-years he has taken part in a number of masterclasses with Arbo Valdma, Kalle Randalu, Vera Gornostajeva, Stephen Kovacevichi, Dmitri Alekseyev and others. In 2001, he gained the 2nd place in competition of Estonian Music Schools.
As a composer, Vsevolod Pozdejev so far has written mainly instrumental and vocal chamber works, where an important place holds piano. He has also created choral works and film music. Since 2009, Pozdejev hosts the radio program Misterioso at Radio 4 and since 2010, teaches composition at the Narva Music School.
