Viljandi Guitar Festival

From September 23 to 27, the first Viljandi Guitar Festival, which aim is to introduce and propagate improvisational guitar playing,takes place in Viljandi. The main guest is Canadian guitarist Kevin Breit, also many reknown artists from Estonia and abroad will appear on the stage.

At 12 concerts inViljandi Traditional Music Storehouse, Puppet Theatre, St. John’s Church and cinema Rubiin, Marzi Nyman (Finland), Alexander Vinitsky (Russia), Rolf Lislevand (Norway), Tiit Paulus, Andre Maaker, Weekend Guitar Trio, Jaak Sooäär, Tuule Kann, Virgo Sillamaa, Tanel Ruben, Toomas Vanem, Paul Daniel, Riho Sibul, Marek Talts and Raivo Tafenau Band will perform.

For young musicians, festival offers workshops held by Alexander Vinitsky, Kevin Breit and Robert Jürjendal. Also Tiit Paulus Young Guitarist Award, that allows one young Estonian musician to accomplish guitar studies, will be given out.

Festival is realised in cooperation with University of Tartu Viljandi Culture Academy and Viljandi City Government. Artistic director is Ain Agan
