Tobias String Quartet will perform with accordion player Reet Laube

On August 15 at 8 pm, concert entitled Passion will take place in Tartu St. John’s Church where Reet Laube (button accordion) and Tobias String Quartet – Maano Männi (violin), Kristjan Hallik (violin), Toomas Nestor (viola), Aare Tammesalu (cello) – will perform music by the tango king Astor Piazzolla.

Reet Laube studied at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre in the accordion class of Sirje Mõttus where she earned her Master’s Degree in 2007. At the present time, Reet Laube studies at the Royal Danish Academy of Music with Professors Geir Draugsvoll and James Crabb.

Tobias String Quartet, founded in 2000, has regularly given concerts in Estonia as well as abroad (Stockholm, Berlin, Helsinki, St. Petersburg, Riga, Athens). The quartet’s first CD was released under the German label Erdenklang in 2003. For Estonian Radio Tobias String Quartet has recorded chamber music by Lepo Sumera, Veljo Tormis, Jaan Rääts, Heino Eller and Tõnis Kaumann. Their repertoire also includes masterpieces of the world’s quartet literature. The quartet is named after Estonian composer Rudolf Tobias who composed the first string quartet in Estonian music literature.
