Karl Tipp

b. June 28, 1995 Paide

Karl Tipp studied piano at Paide Music School with Astrid Sild. After graduation, he continued at the same school with saxophone lessons from Olavi Oismann. From 2011–2015 he studied classical saxophone in Georg Ots Tallinn Music School. Since 2015 he began studying composition with Tatjana Kozlova-Johannes meanwhile continuing his saxophone studies at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre now with Virgo Veldi. He graduated in 2019 already with Olavi Kasemaa and now continues his master's studies with the same teacher.
 
Karl has taken part in the Erasmus student exchange programme studying saxophone in Warsaw Poland at the Karol Szymanovski school with Alicja Wołyńczyk. During the academic year 2017/2018, he spent studying at the European University of Cyprus with Yiannis Miralis as his main subject teacher.
 
Tipp has participated in various saxophone masterclasses with teachers like Johannes Thorell, Johann van dan Linden, Elliot Riley (Rascher Quartett), Ashu Kejariwal, Alfonso Padilla, and Elari Ann Evans.
 
He has been a successful participant in various competitions in Estonia and abroad receiving 1st prize in the Solon Michaelides competition (2017), 1st prize in the Estonian woodwind instrument competition (2018), and 1st prize at the Renaissance festival in Armenia (2019).
 
Tipp took part in a TV show for young classical musicians "Klassikatähed" (Classical Stars) and has worked with the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra and the Estonian National Opera Symphony Orchestra. Karl is also one of the core musicians in the Estonian Saxophone Quartet.
