Tiina Kiilaspea 60

On June 2, at 5 pm the jubilee concert of Estonian composer Tiina Kiilaspea takes place in the Hall of the Tallinn University. Kiilaspea’s choral works will be performed by Female Choir of Estonian Choral Conductors (conductor Õnne-Ann Roosvee), Konstantin Türnpu Male Choir (Ene Kangron), Mixed Choir of the Tallinn Joint Gymnasium (Aade Erits), Kurekell Youth Ensemble (Ülle Raud and Aade Erits) etc.

Tiina Kiilaspea (b. June 16, 1947) studied composition with Uno Naissoo and Veljo Tormis in the Tallinn Music High School. In 1970 she graduated from the Tallinn Conservatoire as a choir conductor with Prof. Gustav Ernesaks, and in 1973 as a composer with Prof. Eino Tamberg. Tiina Kiilaspea was a faculty member at the Tallinn Pedagogical Institute and the Tallinn Conservatoire; she worked as choir conductor at the Tallinn Students’ Mixed Choir (1967–1979), Olevine Mixed Choir (1979–1983) and Tallinn Teachers’ Female Choir (1990–1994). Tiina Kiilaspea’s oeuvre consists of about 400 opuses – she has composed mostly choral music, her choral songs have won awards at many composition contests.
