The winner of "Con Brio 2008" is pianist Jaan Kapp

On November 16, the final concert of Con Brio competition-festival for Estonian young musicians was held in Estonia Concert Hall. Jaan Kapp won the First Prize by the State Concert Organisation Eesti Kontsert as well as the awards by Estonian Television, Estonian National Symphony Orchestra, one of the two awards by Vanemuine Symphony Orchestra and Estonian classical music radio Klassikaraadio. He was also the recipient of this year’s Audience Award. Cellist Indrek Leivategija won the Prize by Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre and the other award by Vanemuine Symphony Orchestra and Klassikaraadio.

Jaan Kapp (b. 1988) started his piano studies in 1995 with Natalie Maasin. In 1999-2007, he was the student of Ada Kuuseoks at Tallinn Music High School. At present Jaan Kapp continues his studies at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre with Ivari Ilja. He has gained recognition at many piano competitions, both national and international. In 2004, Jaan Kapp represented Estonia at the Eurovision Young Musicians Competition in Luzern. He has given solo performances in Estonia, Russia and Austria.
