September 25-28, the Autumn Festival of the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre will take place for the ninth time. Main guest of the festival is composer Krzysztof Penderecki (Poland). The opening concert on September 25 at 6 p.m will present works by students of composition and electronic music studio who participated in 5-day workshop held by Jean Babtiste Favory. On September 26 at 6 p.m contemporary music ensemble of EAMT directed by Taavi Kerikmäe will perform new works by composition students of EAMT (Maret Alango, Mait Jüriado, Pille Kangur, Agata Krawczyk, Juliana Kuklin, Maria Kõrvits, Indrek Liit, Riho Maimets, Elo Masing, Jorge Rodriguez, Evelin Seppar, Valeria Tiganik, Ksenia Zemskaja). On September 27 at 6 p.m new music ensemble from College of Music Seoul National University will give a concert. At the final concert, on September 28 at 6 p.m, Krzysztof Penderecki’s music will be performed by contemporary music ensemble of EAMT. All festival concerts will take place in EAMT chamber hall.
In addition to concerts, a conference named “Electronic music and philosophy” will be held on September 26 at 12 p.m-6 p.m at Kultuurikatel (Põhja Av. 27a, Tallinn) where the lectures will be given by Jacques Serrano, Bastien Gallet, Elie During and Christophe Kihm from France.
The Autumn Festival is focused on contemporary music. The first festival in 1999 celebrated the opening of the new building of the Academy. Since 2002 it has been an international festival.
