Raimond Valgre 95

On October 7, 95 years have passed since the birth of composer and musician Raimond Valgre. One of the most well-known Estonian authors of light music has written nearly 100 songs (including A Little Story in the Music, Saaremaa Waltz, Bluebird), his timeless music have stayed in the repertoire of most of Estonian artists till now. Composer’s anniversary will be celebrated with several events.

Two concerts are dedicated to Valgre in Rapla, the city where composer spent his childhood years. October 7 at 7 pm, concert Raimond 95 will take place in Rapla Culture Centre, where composer’s ageless melodies will be performed by Ivo Linna, Anti Kammiste and singing students of Thea Paluoja.

On October 11 at 1 pm, Rapla Music School’s concert Raimond Valgre 95 will take place also in Rapla Culture Centre.

Concert Old Love Letters is directed to the admirers of Valgre’s music as well. Composer’s songs will be performed by Ele Raik (vocal), Tõnu Kilgas (vocal), Vambo Pikknurm (cello) and Jaak Lutsoja (accordion). Concerts in Estonian National Opera Winter Garden will take place on October 15, November 27 and December 2 an 11 at 7 pm.

In October, Radio 4 broadcasts new series “Muinaslugu muusikas” that is dedicated to the 95th anniversary of Raimond Valgre.
