New CD with Peeter Süda’s complete organ music

English record label Toccata Classics has released Peeter Süda’s (1883–1920) complete organ music performed by Ines Maidre. Süda’s seven completed organ opuses constitute a much-treasured contribution to the beginnings of Estonian organ music. Composer's only choral work, the "Flax Puller", is the first choral fugue in Estonian music based on folklore. Beside his own compositions, Süda has made organ transcriptions of the works by Liszt, Mozart, Bach, Wagner etc.

The CD consists of organ works like Prelude and Fugue in G minor, Pastorale, Fugue in F minor, Basso ostinato, Ave Maria, Scherzino, Gigue (á la Bach) and arrangement of Ferenc Liszt’s symphonic poem Tasso. Lamento e Trionfo. Music has been recorded in Tallinn Dome Church in 2005 and Helsinki St. John’s Church and Old Church in 1995. The liner notes are written by Ines Maidre, sound engineer is Maido Maadik.

The release date is October 1, 2012, but digital downloads are available right now through the site of Toccata Classics.
