Nargenfestival start its 11th season

The new season of Nargenfestival opens with the concert of Tõnu Kõrvits’s works from his newly released album „Mirror“ (ECM) which are performed by cello soloist Anja Lechner from Germany, singer Kadri Voorand, Tallinn Chamber Orchestra and Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir, conducted by Tõnu Kaljuste. The work presented by Tõnu Kaljuste at the second opening concert of the festival is one of the greatest achievements of Ludwig van Beethoven – „Missa solemnis“ that will be performed by the Latvian mixed choir Latvija and the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra with soloists Aile Asszonyi, Helen Lepalaan and Olari Viikholm as well as the German tenor Markus Schäfer. On June 11 and 12, Cyrillus Kreek’s Days will take place in Haapsalu Dome Church once again. The first concert presents Kreek’s choral music performed by Estonian National Male Choir. At the second concert, Estonian Television Children Choir and Concert Choir together with the Estonian Music and Theatre Academy Mixed Choir will sing Estonian choral music. Program entitled as „Bard’s childhood“ consists of more than a century’s cross section of Estonian choir music created mostly for folk lyrics.
