Martin Kuuskmann’s concerts with Tallinn Chamber Orchestra

The State Concert Institute Eesti Kontsert's serie „Golden Classics“ opens it’s fourth season with concerts of Estonian bassoonist Martin Kuuskmann and Tallinn Chamber Orchestra under the baton of Risto Joost. The concerts will take place on October 3 at Jõhvi Concert Hall, October 4 at Estonia Concert Hall and October 5 at Vanemuine Concert Hall. On the program will be Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Bassoon Concerto in B-flat major, Johann Nepomuk Hummel’s Bassoon Concerto in F Major, Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach’s Symphony in E-flat major and Franz Joseph Haydn’s Symphony No. 59 „Fire“.

Estonian-born bassoonist Martin Kuuskmann, who lives by now for many years in USA is a musician whose wide repertoire comprises music from baroque to jazz. Constantly pushing the boundaries for new artistic and technical possibilities, Kuuskmann has premiered several bassoon concertos, all written and dedicated to him by some of the foremost composers of our time as Erkki-Sven Tüür, Eino Tamberg, Tõnu Kõrvits, Ülo Krigul, Christopher Theofanidis, David Chesky, Gregor Huebner, Gene Pritsker and Charles Coleman. Kuuskmann’s collaboration with composers including Daniel Schnyder, Helena Tulve and jazz icon John Patitucci have lead to numerous new solo works from bassoon and string quartet to amplified bassoon and electronics. As a soloist Kuuskmann constantly cooperates with several orchestras in USA, Asia and Europe. In addition he currently teaches at Cornish College of Arts in Seattle and Arosa Music Academy in Switzerland and is a founding member and solo bassoonist of the New York City based Absolute Ensemble.
