Kallastu Festival will begin

On March 21, Kallastu Festival will begin in Pärnu St. Elizabeth Church with Andrus Kallastu’s composer recital. Festival presents work of composer Andrus Kallastu and soprano Kai Kallastu. In the course of the month, seven concerts will take place in Pärnu and Tallinn performed by several other Estonian interpreters like Toomas Trass (organ), Leonora Palu (flute), Liis Jürgens (harp), Jorma Toots (piano) and international work group Church Composition Group.

Andrus Kallastu’s composer recital „Light and Shadow” will take place on March 21 at 7 p.m in Pärnu St. Elizabeth Church and March 28 at 7 p.m in Tallinn St. Nicholas Church.

„Joseph’s doubts” on March 23 at 3 p.m in Pärnu Town Hall and April 2 at 6 p.m in Tallinn Writers’s House. Programme consists of Paul Hindemith’s vocal cycle „Das Marienleben” and presentation of Rainer Maria Rilke’s poem cycle ”Das Marienleben” Estonian translation (translated by Sven Kivisildnik).

”Look at the Music, Listen to the Art” on April 17 at 7 p.m. in Pärnu Art Hall. Concert-cinema with French music will be beside musicians performed by Gabriela Järvet (animation) and Tõnis Liivamängi (video).

„Blue Night” on April 18 at 7 p.m in Pärnu Town Hall. Programme consists of piano music by Berio and songs by Gershwin and Lecuona.

The final concert of the festival will take place on April 19 at 4 p.m in Parnu Old Town School where Andrus Kallastu’s ”Welt gebaut ist” will be premiered.

The first Kallastu Festival was held in 2007. Festival is organised by Pärnu Opera Society and Repoo Productions (Finland).
