Concert dedicated the 90th anniversary of the Estonian Republic in Iceland with the premiere of choral piece by Tõnu Kõrvits

From 16 to 17 February annivarsary concerts of Estonian Republic will take place in Iceland. Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir with Daniel Reuss conducting will give the premiere of Tõnu Kõrvits’s “Three Songs From Iceland” on the texts of Icelandic folklore. Iceland was the first to acknoledge Estonian independence in 1991. The anniversary concert is a symbolic musical gift to the Republic of Iceland.

Besides the new work by Kõrvits commissioned by the Estonian Republic, the concert programme includes early music, Cyrillus Kreek’s Psalm 104, “Blessed is the Man”, Psalm 141, Psalm 121 and Psalm 137, Arvo Pärt’s Magnificat, parts from 7 Magnificat-Antiphonen and Mart Saar’s “Seitse sammeldunud sängi” and “Noore veljo, veeritäge”. Concerts will take place on February 16 at 4 p.m. and February 17 at 8 p.m. in Kópavogur, Salurinn Concert Hall and February 17 at 3 p.m. in Skálholt Cathedral.
