Pärnu International Opera Music Festival PromFest

 

The 6th Pärnu International Opera Music Festival PromFest will take place from May 22 to June 5. The festival has grown out of Klaudia Taev competition for young opera singers

Also this year, from June 1 to 5 held competition is the central event of the festival and it brings to Estonia many young singers and internationally acknowledged persons of opera world.

During the festival, Jules Massenet’s opera Thais will be staged in Pärnu theatre Endla. From May 29 to 31, well-known Polish soprano Teresa Zylis-Gara will give master classes in the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre. The traditional Klaudia Taev memorial concert will be held by her students on June 3 in the Pärnu Kuninga Basic School. On June 4, Lithuanian bass singer Vladimiras Prudnikovas will have a solo-concert in Pärnu City Hall. The final concert of the festival, which is also the final round for the 6th Klaudia Taev competition, takes place on June 5th in Pärnu Concert Hall.

The Festival is organized by the PromFest NGO with Estonian National Opera and Pärnu theatre Endla. The artistic director of the festival is conductor Erki Pehk.
