Paavo Järvi and Tõnu Kaljuste will conduct music by Arvo Pärt

In the near future, Arvo Pärt’s music will be performed under the baton of Estonian conductors in USA and Norway: Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra with Paavo Järvi in the orchestra’s hometown and Norwegian Chamber Orchestra with Tõnu Kaljuste in Oslo and Kongsberg.

On March 14, 15 and 16, Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra will give a concert in Cincinnati Music Hall, playing „Cantus in Memory of Benjamin Britten” by Arvo Pärt. Conductor is orchestra’s musical director Paavo Järvi. Programme includes also Britten’s Violin Concerto No. 1 (soloist Janine Jansen) and Schubert’s Symphony No. 9. Pärt’s “Cantus” will be presented also at the orchestra’s Europe tour concert in Vienna Konzerthaus on April 6.

Tnu Kaljuste will conduct Pärt’s music on March 15 in Oslo Frogner Church and March 17 in Kongsberg Church. Programme consists of „Für Lennart in memoriam” for string orchestra, „Wallfahrtslied” for male choir and string orchestra and „L’abbé Agathon” for soprano, 4 violas ja 4 cellos by Pärt and „Seven Last Words From The Cross” by James MacMillan. Works will be performed by Norwegian Chamber Orchestra, The Norwegian Solists’s Choir and Elisabeth Holmertz (soprano). On March 18, Tõnu Kaljuste will conduct Mozart’s Requiem with the same performers in Frogner Church.
