Hugo Lepnurm Music Days in Valga

From September 26 to 28, Hugo Lepnurm Music Days, organized by Hugo Lepnurm Music Society will take place in Valga. The main goal is to bring together an international church musicians forum but the music days offer also concerts and other events.

The conference entitled as Expanding Opportunities of Cooperation within Church Music in the Baltic and Nordic States – The Cimze Seminar Opens its Doors in Valga Cultural Centre on September 26 at 2 pm, will open the music days. Papers will be presented by representatives of Estonian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Finnish, Swedish and Norwegian church music organisations. Participants will discuss over opportunities of cooperation within church music in Baltic and Nordic States. International chorale evening directed by Tallinn Dome Church organist Ene Salumäe, will take place at Valga St. John Church at 8 pm.

On September 27, visit to Cimze Seminar Museum in Valka and excursion to Viljandi will be organized. At 4 pm the conference will continue. At Valga St. John Church at 8 pm, the choral music of the Cimze students will be performed by Tartu Student Mixed Choir (conducted by Valli Ilvik).

The closing concert of the music days will take place at Valga St. John Church on September 28 at 12 pm. Baltic and Nordic organists will perform Baltic and Nordic organ music.

Hugo Lepnurm Music Days are produced in cooperation with Valga City Government, Congregation of Valga St. John Church, Finnish Institute, Cultural Endowment of Estonia and University of Tartu Viljandi Culture Academy.
