Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir and Estonian National Symphony Orchestra will perform and record music by Arvo Pärt

On May 28 at 7 pm, Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir and Estonian National Symphony Orchestra conducted by Tõnu Kaljuste will give free concert with music by Arvo Pärt at Estonia Concert Hall. The programme includes In principio (2003, dedicated to Tõnu Kaljuste), Cecilia, vergine romana (2000/2002, dedicated to Myung-Whun Chung and the choir and orchestra of Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia) and the orchestra work La Sindone (2005, dedicated to Enzo Restagno). The same programme will be recorded to ECM.

Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir and Estonian National Symphony Orchestra together are recording the first time to ECM, but both collectives have precious experience with ECM. In co-operation of Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir, Tõnu Kaljuste and ECM, three CD-s with music by Arvo Pärt have been released before: Te Deum (1993), Litany (1996) and Kanon Pokajanen (1998). Additionally Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir led by Tõnu Kaljuste has featured in ECM-released albums such as Forgotten Peoples (1990) and Litany to Thunder (1998) by Veljo Tormis, Crystallisatio (1995) by Erkki-Sven Tüür and Ignis (1998) by Paul Giger. Estonian National Symphony Orchestra conducted by Olari Elts has previously released under ECM an album entitled Oxymoron with music by Erkki-Sven Tüür.
