Estonian Music Days 2008 begin

This year, the main part of Estonian Music Days lasts from April 3 to 10 but the foretuning begins already today, on March 31th. The festival will be introduced by The Great Spring Concert of Georg Ots Music School in Russian Drama Theatre at 7 PM.

Huge part of the festival program concentrates on educating children and youngsters in the field of (contemporary) music. As the best teachers for them are the youngsters themselves, the festival program includes more student concerts than usually: young musicians from Georg Ots Tallinn Music School, Tallinn Music High School and elsewhere will perform at the festival.

This year Jüri Reinvere’s music gets the elevated attention while his music is performed at composer recital. Composer Uno Naissoo’s 80th anniversary is celebrated by gala concert. Young pianist Mihkel Poll has a chance to compile a program consisting Estonian music (including largely premieres) with a tenor Oliver Kuusik. Concert Cellissimo! with an extraordinary staff takes place in Cultural Factory Polymer where a twelve-member cello ensemble performs among other musicians. Admirers of orchestral, chamber, organ or male choir music, as well as fans of multimedia should also find something for themselves in the program of Estonian Music Days.

EMD club nights with thematic program will take place every evening in Composers’ House. One of the largest of them is Estonian Music Night on April 5th. Kago & Iduvigik, Tehnoloogiline Päike, Lippajad and Kaido Kirikmäe will perform there.
