Collegium Musicale performs Veljo Tormis’s „Forgotten People“ in whole-length

On November 1 and 4, chamber choir Collegium Musicale will perform all six parts of Veljo Tormis’s cycle „Forgotten People“ in Tartu and Tallinn. It’s the first time when the whole cycle will be performed from beginning to end in one concert. This chef-d'oeuvre of Tormis’s choral music consists of six parts based on the folklore of the endangered Baltic and Finnic peoples: Livonian Heritage (1970), Votic Wedding Songs (1971), Izhorian Epic (1975/1979), Ingrian Evenings (1979), Vepsian Paths (1983), and Karelian Destiny (1986–1989).

The artistic director of the concert evening is Inga Vares, movement is arranged by Mari Mägi. Choir is conducted by Endrik Üksvärav, assistant conductor is Miina Pärn. Concerts belong to the program of Finno-Ugrian Days. Concerts will take place on November 1 at 7 pm in University of Tartu History Museum and November 4 at 7 pm in Tallinn Hobuveski.
