Veljo Tormis' choral cycle "Forgotten Peoples" will be performed by Chœur de l’Orchestre de Paris in Tartu. Tormis’ cycle includes three parts in the repertoire: “Izhorian Epic”, “Votic Wedding Songs” and “Ingrian Evenings”. Ingrid Mänd will conduct the choir who will sing in Vadja and Isuri languages and in the Ingrian Finnish dialect.

Chruch Day and Sacred Song Festival: The concert of three choirs

At the concert there will perform three choirs: from Estonia the mixed choir of church musicians of the EELC named KOSK, from German the mixed choir of the Kreiskantorei Hofgeismar-Wolfhagen and from Norwegia the Stavanger Symphony Choir. This will bring together around 140 singers. Each choir will perform sacred choral music from their own country.

Keyboard player Taavi Kerikmäe presents a commissioned instrument cembalo d’amore, made by Latvian master maker Kaspars Putriņš in his workshop, based on original drawings by Johann Mattheson. The cembalo d’amore is a member of the clavichord family, however, its body constitutes of two clavichords in total length of three metres.

Festive concert "Baltic Chain - 35" on Vilnius Cathedral Square

In 2024, the entire free world will celebrate the 35th anniversary of one of humanity's most powerful acts of solidarity, the "Baltic Chain". On this occasion, a festive open-air concert will be held on Cathedral Square in Vilnius, where artists and conductors from Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia will perform together with the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra and perform music from the three Baltic countries. Estonia is represented by Maarja Nuut and conductor Erki Pehk.

Christmas Jazz 2024: Female Chamber Choir Sireen & Boriss–Trump–Tafenau trio “Making waves”

On the evening of the first Advent, the classical timbre of a women’s choir will merge with the captivating harmonies of a jazz trio at the Kumu Auditorium. Sharing the stage with the Female Chamber Choir Sireen will be Artiss Boriss, Janno Trump and Ramuel Tafenau. Their programme, Making Waves, explores the fusion of choral music and jazz, showcasing both new compositions and works by renowned choral composers like Tõnu Kõrvits, Rasmus Puur and Ēriks Ešenvalds.

The phenomenon of mindfulness, the infinite multilayeredness of the human inner world, and the incredible possibilities that open up on invisible levels – these are the dimensions of the Great Unknown into which we will dive with Oleg Pissarenko’s latest work. At the concert in the Kumu Auditorium, pieces from the album Seisundi Muusika (Music of Your Condition) will be performed by the composer on a specially prepared piano and acoustic guitar.
