Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir
Conductor Kaspars Putniņš
PROGRAMME
Helena Tulve (b. 1972). „Lost“ for mixed choir (2014, premiere of the complete work)
Märt-Matis Lill (b. 1975). “Niehkkoája” / “The Dream Stream” for mixed choir and electronics (2014)
Gustav Mahler (1860–1911) / Clytus Gottwald (b. 1925). „Ich bin der Welt abhanden gekommen“ from “Rückert-Lieder” (1901–1902)
The forth concert in the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir’s Vitrages series is simultaneously the final musical event of the EMD. The programme includes works composed in Estonia during the last two years as well as in Austria more than a century ago. The intimate sounds of Estonian contemporary composers’ pieces and Mahler’s powerful sound paintings create contrasts but also novel dialogues between the two eras. While times and styles change, some themes remain timeless.
The concert series Vitrages of the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir brings a selection of the world’s choral music classics as well as brand new works by Estonian composers to the audience. Be ready to experience deep emotions, unique atmosphere, powerful sounds, and extraordinary musical qualities at the concert of this world-famous Estonian choir!
Composer Märt-Matis Lill will give a brief talk 30 minutes before the concert.
Concert will be devoted to the World Voice Day.
