Arvo Volmer conducts Tubin in Adelaide

On Friday, April 18th at 8 PM and Saturday, April 19th at 7 PM (local time), Arvo Volmer will perform with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra. The program of those concerts also includes music by Eduard Tubin. More precisely, the program consists of Prelude Sinfonico by Giacomo Puccini (paying attention to Puccini’s 150th anniversary), Symphony No. 6 by Eduard Tubin and Cello Concerto by Antonín Dvořák (American cellist Ralph Kirshbaum playing the solo).

Arvo Volmer has been the chief conductor and musical leader of Adelaide Symphony Orchestra since 2003. In recent years he has also conducted others Australian orchestras such as Tasmanian, Queensland, Melbourne and Sydney Symphony Orchestras.

Arvo Volmer started his conducting career in age 22 at the Estonian National Opera in 1985. In 1989 he became the Associate Conductor of Estonian National Symphony Orchestra and from 1993 to 2001 he was its chief conductor. Since 2003 Arvo Volmer has been a musical director and chief conductor of Estonian national Opera. Additionally he conducts in several other musical theatres and in front of many orchestras all over the world.
