Arvo Pärt’s new work will be performed in Turkey

On June 7, Arvo Pärt’s Adam’s Lament for vocal ensemble, mixed choir and string orchestra (2009, commissioned by Cultural Capital Istanbul 2010 and Cultural Capital Tallinn 2011) will receive its world premiere performance in Istanbul. The new work will be performed by Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir, ensemble Vox Clamantis and Borusan Philharmonic Orchestra under the guidance of Tõnu Kaljuste within the framework of the 38th International Istanbul Music Festival.

The concert will take place at Hagia Eirene Museum in the presence of composer where he will be awarded the life work prize of the festival. In addition to Adam’s Lament also Orient & Occident, Alleluia Tropus, Most Holy Mother of God, Te Deum and Da pacem Domine will be performed.

Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir, conducted by its chief conductor Daniel Reuss, will also give a cappella choral music concert on June 8. The program consists of works by Arvo Pärt, Cyrillus Kreek, Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy and Sergei Rachmaninoff.
