Pianist Tanel Joamets in Russia, Kazakhstan and Finland

March 6 – 9, pianist Tanel Joamets performed with his brother Lasse Joamets’s String Quartet in Finland, in Tampere, Rovaniemi and Ivalo. The program included Mozart’s Piano Concerto in A (K414, chamber version) and Brahms’s Piano Quintet. The same program was part of Tanel Joamets’s concert series „Pianissimo“ in Tartu on March 4. Previously, to February 26, Joamets gave piano recitals in 13 towns in Russia and 5 in Kazakhstan, led three master courses and stood up with Habarovsk Symphony Orchestra as a soloist in the same Mozart’s Concerto.

In his solo programs there were sonatas by Mozart, Schubert, Chopin and Scriabin, pieces by Rachmaninov and Debussy and Lepo Sumera’s „The Piece from 1981“ at 11 halls. At all the concerts pianist played the improvisations on themes given from auditorium.

Tanel Joamets is unique Estonian pianist performing in Russia. He won a diploma at International Scriabin’s Piano Competition in 1995 and 5th prize at the same competition in Moscow in 2000. After that he was invited every year by many Russian music halls to piano recitals. He was successful and was reinvited everywhere at first as an expert of Scriabin. In last seasons he gave ca 30 recitals per year near in 50 Russian and also several Kazakhstan philharmonic societies.

Joamets graduated from the Estonian Academy of Music in 1994 and advanced his skills at London Guildhall School of Music and Drama. He works as a piano teacher and improvisation teacher at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre Tartu branch and Heino Eller Music School in Tartu.
