triOst performs Estonian music at Essen Philharmonie

On May 29 at 8.30 pm, Estonian-German ensemble triOst composed of mezzo soprano Elo Tammsalu, flutist Nina Holsbach and pianist Kairit Siidra will perform at the Pavilion of Essen Philharmonie. The programme includes only Estonian music: “The Male Fern”, “A Memory” and “How Could I Sleep” by Ester Mägi, Sonata for Flute and Piano by Eduard Tubin, “White Gate”, “Final Song” and “We Are Like Children”, a piece from a cycle Three Estonian Folksongs by Raimo Kangro, Four Fragments by Veljo Tormis, The Songs from Thule by Tõnu Kõrvits and a new piece Haze on Trees by Kairi Kosk.

Haze on Trees by Kairi Kose has been specially commissioned by Essen Philharmonie but triOst has performed the whole programme previously on April 27 in Aachen German-French Cultural Centre. This time ensemble triOst performs in Essen Philharmonie concert series entitled YOUrope Together that introduces contemporary music from new member states of European Union and entry state Turkey. On July 12 at 10.05 pm (local time), the triOst concert can also be heard on Deutschlandfunk radio.

Ensemble triOst was founded when the musicians studied at the Aachen department of Köln Musikhochschule. Mezzo soprano Elo Tammsalu and pianist Kairit Siidra were playing together already when studying at the Estonian Academy of Music. Later they have done different chamber music projects together. German flutist Nina Holsbach joined Tammsalu and Siidra for triOst in Aachen.
