Youth Choir of Tallinn Music High School

Youth Choir of Tallinn Music High School was founded in 2008 by conductor Ingrid Kõrvits. The members of the choir, aged from 13 to 20, all learn an instrument, choral conducting or music theory as their main subject. The choirmaster is Jaanika Kuusik and the accompanist Katrin Peitre.

The choir has won several prizes from national and international choir competition (“Tallinn 2009”, “Tallinn 2011”, VIII International Pärnu Choral Festival, International Franz Schubert competition in Vienna, choral competition “Heart of Europe”, “Let the Peoples Sing” etc). Youth Choir of Tallinn Music High School has performed all over Estonia, also in Finland, Sweden, Latvia, Lithuania, Germany, Austria, Italy, Spain and United Kingdom. They have collaborated with the State Concert Institute Eesti Kontsert, the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra, Tallinn Chamber Orchestra, the Pitea County (Sweden) youth choir and youth orchestra, Hannover Girls’ Choir, the symphony orchestra and chamber choir of Tallinn Music High School and many well-known Estonian conductors and composers.

With Tallinn Chamber Orchestra, Estonian TV Girls’ Choir and conductor Lauri Sirp, the Youth Choir of Tallinn Music High School released CD “Old and New Christmas Carols” (2006) and in 2009, their solo-CD “Heliseb väljadel”.

The Estonian Choral Society gave the award and the title “The Choir of the Year” to the Youth Choir of Tallinn Music High School in 2005 and 2010.
