Mail Sildos

Violinist and concert producer Mail Sildos is mainly active as an orchestral and chamber musician. She has approved her skills in the field of baroque violin performance and is dedicated to the performance and interpretation matters of early music

Sildos graduated from Tallinn State Conservatory in violin performance in the class of Prof. Endel Lippus in 1981. She has completed her studies in baroque violin performance in Lucy van Dael’s master classes and early music semianars in Amsterdam.

From 1980, she has played in the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra, from 1989 in Tallinn Baroque Orchestra (one of the concert masters since 1996). 1984-1995 she was a member of early music consort Hortus Musicus, currently she is active member of several early music collectives (Corelli Consort, Corelli Baroque Orchestra, Tallinn Baroque Orchestra, Estonian-Finnish Baroque Orchestra, Opus X).

1994-2003 she was a project manager of concert agency Concerto Grosso. In 2004, she founded concert agency Corelli Music, that has achieved stylish and elegant image in organizing concerts. Agency offers interesting concerts for Corelli Consort as well as many other Estonian professional musicians and foreign guests. In October 2008, Corelli Music was awarded the Annual Prize of the Endowment for Music of the Cultural Endowment of Estonia for the concert series that enrich Estonian musical life. Sildos was Estonian Association of Professional Musicians’s grantee in 2006, member of the board since spring 2007.

In 1992, Sildos laid the foundation of baroque ensemble Corelli Consort playing original intruments of the era, on her initiative Corelli Baroque Orchestra was found in 2006.

She has performed solo parts (Johann Sebastian Bach’s St. Matthew and St. John Passions, Christmas Oratorio) as a concert master in concerts in Estonia, Finland and Norway.

Sildos plays baroque music with Corelli Consort on CD “Christmas in ancient Tallinn” (Corelli Music, 2007) and on CD “Beauty of History” (Corelli Music, 2005).
