Lasse Joamets

Lasse Joamets began his violin studies at the age of 6 under Virve Vääri. He studied at the Tallinn Music High School in the violin class of Ivi Tivik (1985–1991). In 1996, he graduated from the Estonian Academy of Music under the supervision of Prof. Mari Tampere.

His professional career began at the age of 20 in the Tallinn Chamber Orchestra, soon becoming the orchestra’s assistant concertmaster. At the same time, he became a member of the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra. In 1997–2010, Joamets was the principal violinist of the Lapland Chamber Orchestra. Since 2011, he holds the 1st concertmaster position of the Oulu Sinfonia. 

Over the last couple of decades, Lasse Joamets has performed as a guest concertmaster in the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra under the guidance of Neeme Järvi, Olari Elts, Gennadi Rozhdestvensky and others. He has appeared as a soloist with the Tallinn Chamber Orchestra, the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra, the Estonian Academy of Music Symphony Orchestra, the Vanemuine Symphony Orchestra, the Lapland Chamber Orchestra and the Oulu Sinfonia.

He has cooperated with many chamber musicians, but most frequently he has appeared with his brother pianist Tanel Joamets. In addition to classical music he also likes to play different music styles, e.g. country and jazz.

In 2008, Lasse Joamets was awarded the Helmi (Pearl) Prize by the Finnish bank Osuuspankki for promoting the cultural life of Lapland.
