Kaido Kelder

The cellist Kaido Kelder mainly operates as an orchestra and chamber musician, performing a lot of both contemporary music and classical repertoire.

Kaido Kelder graduated Tallinn Music High School in 1989 with Mart Laas and Peeter Paemurru. From 1989 to 1995 he continued his studies in Estonian Academy of Music, again with Peeter Paemurru. Kaido Kelder has participated in master courses of Vienna Schubert Trio, Kuhmo Chamber Music Festival and Ádám Felleg.

Since 1993, Kaido Kelder works in Tallinn Chamber Orchestra, from 2000 he also workes there as an intendant. From 1997 to 2000 he was an intentant in the Symphony Orchestra of Estonian Academy of Music.

Kaido Kelder has participated in the work of NYYD Ensemble but he has achieved special acknowledgement in New Tallinn Trio with violinist Harry Traksmann and pianist Marrit Gerretz-Traksmann. Additionally he has participated in different chamber ensembles and gathered musicians around himself as a manager.

Kaido Kelder has participated in several theatre productions as a musician, for example an absurd comedy entitled But What Will We Do with the Cello? (directed by Ülle Dreideldt), also Kuressaare City Theatre production Letters for Mother (2007). He has also taken part in several popular music projects, for example in extended staff of the rock band Tanel Padar & The Sun.

In 2007, Kaido Kelder and New Tallinn Trio were chosen to Musician of the Year of Culture Endowment of Estonia. He has been awarded the Acknowledgement Award of the Endowment for Music of the Culture Endowment of Estonia (2022).
