International Tartu Early Music Festival “Orient et Orccident”

From 9 to 12 October, International Tartu Early Music Festival “Orient et Orccident” will be held for the 19th time. Festival focuses mainly on medieval European music and oriental culture connected with early European culture, especially medieval period, when Europe was affected by Arabic culture.

This year’s festival features FA Schola ensemble (Estonia), Agnethe Christensen (voice, kantele, gusli, bells) & Henry Linden (clarinet, organ, Denmark/Sweden) on October 9 at 7 pm at St. John’s Church in Tartu, Ensemble Golden String (China) on October 10 at 7 pm at Tartu Vanemuine Concert Hall, October 11 at 7 pm at Estonia Concert Hall in Tallinn and October 12 at 5 pm at Jõhvi Concert Hall (concerts are held in cooperation with State Concert institute Eesti Kontsert) and Conrad Steinmann (French flageolets and recorders, Switzerland), Poul Høxbro (galoubet-&-tambourin, bones (Denmark), Lilian Langsepp (harp), Egmont Välja (baroque cello), Reinut Tepp (harpsichord) and Mohammad Rasouli (nay, Iran) on October 11 at 7 pm at Ceremonial Hall of Tartu University.

The artistic director of the festival is Raho Langsepp.
