Glasperlenspiel Sinfonietta performs at reputable music festival in Iran

From February 16 to 18, Glasperlenspiel Sinfonietta will give three concerts within the XXX Fajr International Music Festival in Iran. Two concerts will be held on February 16 and 17 at Vahdat Hall at Tehran and one concert on February 18 at Hafes Hall in Shiraz.

The program of the concerts consists of music by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Edward Grieg and Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Nocturne by Iran compser Reza Mortazavi (premiere, dedicated to Glasperlenspiel Sinfonietta) and works by Estonian composers - Arvo Pärt’s Cantus in Memory of Benjamin Britten and Fratres, Veljo Tormis’s Nostalgia, Lepo Sumera’s Musica profana, Galina Grigorjeva’s Molitva [Prayer] (soloist cellist Aare Tammesalu), Heino Eller’s Homeland Tune and Jaan Rääts’s Allegro, Erkki-Sven Tüür's Illusion and Peeter Vähi's In Memoriam H.M. (soloists violinists Sigrid Kuulmann and Mari-Liis Uibo).

Iran’s most prestigious music festival Fajr International Music Festival is founded in 1986. Glasperlenspiel Sinfonietta was invited to participate by Iran’s Music Society.
