Erkki-Sven Tüür is a Composer-in-Residence at Moritzburg Festival

Erkki-Sven Tüür is a Composer-in-Residence at Moritzburg Festival that takes place from August 6 to 21 in Germany. Programme known by now presents Tüür’s works at three concerts. Fata Morgana for piano trio in Moritzburg Lutheran Church on August 13, String Quartet No. 2 Lost Prayers in Moritzburg Castle on August 16, and Prints for flute and harp in Moritzburg Castle on August 17. Concerts on August 16 and 17 will be preceded by the interview with composer.

The Moritzburg Festival was founded in 1993 by Kai Vogler, Peter Bruns and Jan Vogler. It takes place annually in Moritzburg Castle near Dresden. Since 1997, the festival has appointed a Composer-in-Residence, a position which has been held by composers such as Wolfgang Rihm, Sofia Gubaidulina, Thomas Adès, Mark-Anthony Turnage, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Steven Stucky, Gustavo Beytelmann, Jörg Widmann, Helmut Oehring, Iris ter Schiphorst, Olli Mustonen, Steffen Schleiermacher, Chen Yi and Zhou Long.

On August 6, Tüür’s music can be listened also in Dresden Frauenkirche at the concert „Illusion und Natur“, where SIGNUM Saxophonquartett performs Lamentatio (1995).
