Ene Nael

Harpsichord player Ene Nael started her musical studies in Karksi-Nuia Music School. She graduated from Tallinn Music High School in 1989 from the piano class of Ell Saviauk and Laine Mets. She continued her piano studies at the Estonian Academy of Music with Laine Mets and also studied harpsichord with Imbi Tarum. In 1994, she received her Bachelor’s Degree and in 2000, Master’s Degree in chamber music with Nata-Ly Sakkos.

Ene Nael has taken part in master courses of Jacques Ogg, Pierre Hantaï, Elisabeth Joyé, Lars Ulrik Mortensen, Joel Speerstra and Edoardo Bellotti. In 1998 and 1999, she participated in the international seminar Capita Selecta Early Music in Amsterdam.

In 2000, Ene Nael won the first prize at the competition Bach 250, which was organized by the Estonian Academy of Music.

At the present time, Ene Nael works as a teacher at the Music School of Tallinn Old Town Educational College. She also organizes different events of the Harpsichord Society (concerts, master classes etc.).

Ene Nael has performed as a soloist, in a duo with harpsichord player Kristiina Are and in different chamber music ensembles and Baroque orchestras. With Liis Viira (harp) and Kristi Mühling (Estonian kannel), Ene Nael plays in the ensemble Una Corda.

Ene Nael has taken part in recording two Antonio Vivaldi CDs with the Philharmonic Chamber Choir of Estonia and Tallinn Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Tõnu Kaljuste.
She has premiered the harpsichord pieces of several Estonian composers (Mirjam Tally, Kristjan Kõrver, Helena Tulve, Robert Jürjendal, Mart Siimer) and participated in the making of Toivo Tulev’s, Helena Tulve’s and Raimo Kangro’s author CDs. She has also collaborated with video artist Ivika Kivi and actor Tarmo Song.
