Woodwind Quintet Estica:
Anna Kelder (flute), Heli Ernits (oboe), Helena Tuuling (clarinet), Rene Sepalaan (bassoon), Meelika Mikson (French horn)
“Heavenly and earthly love stories”
The concert combines legends related to Tallinn and medieval stories telling about Virgin Mary and Holy Elisabeth (who was one of the patron saints of the Church of the Holy Spirit). The performed music includes arrangements of pieces originating from various eras, from the Middle Ages to Baroque. One of the central sources is the Galician-Portuguese collection of songs dedicated to Virgin Mary called “Cantigas de Santa Maria”. The musical performance is accompanied by several stories from the same source.
The textual part of the concert has been compiled by Jan Kaus.
The concert is curated by Märt-Matis Lill.
Woodwind Quintet Estica is the chamber music ensemble of new generation Estonian musicians with main focus on fresh interpretation of rich Estonian woodwind quintet music.
