On Land and Sea
On Saturday February 9th, amateur choir Kantarell will perform an enchanting programme directed by Lieke Moonen, accompanied by Aries Saxophone Quartet, full songs and hymns on land and sea in the Oosterkerk in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. The centerpiece is the hypnotic ‘Hymns from the Western Coast’ (‘Hümnid Läänerannikult’) by the contemporary Estonian composer Tõnu Kõrvits (1969) for mixed choir and saxophone quartet. We will take you to the Baltic coast, through ferocious waves, green valleys and idyllic villages.
A capella the choir will sing "Suitors from the Sea" from the "Forgotten Peoples" / "Karelian Destiny" cycle by Veljo Tormis, as well as songs by Mendelssohn and Holst.
The programme starts at 20:15. Tickets cost € 8.
