International Music Day
Music Day is an extensive goodwill event in order to celebrate the International Music Day on October 1st. The International Music Day puts music at the center of our attention, encouraging us to notice to the sounds surrounding us in our everyday lives. We invite you to listen and join us in this unique journey through the universal and beautiful language of music.
The aim of the event is to introduce the professional music culture by approaching it from a new and a fresh angle. Numerous concerts take place during the Music Day all over Estonia. Next to our traditional concert venues, music is played in places you would never expect – such as the military basis, shopping centers, public transport and many others. In the previous year 2014, the Music Day hosted 162 concerts with in one day, presenting over 700 musicians! In 2015 the Music Day will take place for the third time.
The Music Day hosts different styles of music from classical and jazz to folk and choral music. This way every person can find something of relevance to enjoy and celebrate the day of sounds. All the Music Day’s concerts are free of charge. The Music Day culminates with the Estonian Classical and Jazz Music Awards Ceremony, which is broadcasted live to the Estonian National Television. The Music Day is organized by the Estonian Music Council.
