Andres Lemba

b. December 6, 1968 Tallinn

Andres Lemba has graduated from Tallinn Music High School in choral conducting with Eda Kõrgemägi in 1987 and Estonian Music Academy in choral conducting under Prof. Ants Soots in 1994. Since 1992, Lemba works as a teacher of music theory subjects in Georg Ots Tallinn Music School. From 2000–2006, he was a chief conductor of Raplamaa Youth Male Choir. He is concertmaster of Estonian National Opera Boys’ Choir from 2003 and Girls’ Choir of Old Town Music House from 2005.

Andres Lembas has written mainly choral and chamber music, also arranged works in different genres for choir and orchestra. His „Haned-luiged“ (Geese and Swans) for female choir on text by Ly Seppel and arrangement of Kait Tamra’s song „Oma saar“ (Own Island) for joint choir were in the program of XXII General Song Celebration in 2014. In the same year, Lemba took part in choral music competition of the international festival VocalEspoo where his male choir work Sanctus achieved the I prize and Miserere for mixed choir shared the II prize.

Andres Lemba has been ascribed the title of Choral Composer of the Year 2015, he is a laureate of Riho Päts Fund of School Music.
