Collegium Musicale
Chamber choir Collegium Musicale was founded in 2010 by its conductor Endrik Üksvärav. The purpose of the choir is to enrich and further the Estonian music field and offer high-level musical emotions and be the ambassadors of Estonian music. Choir’s repertoire extends from Renaissance to contemporary music. music from Renaissance to contemporary, the special place in the repertoire belongs to the Estonian composers: Arvo Pärt, Veljo Tormis, Erkki-Sven Tüür, Helena Tulve, Tõnu Kõrvits, Mirjam Tally, Pärt Uusberg etc.Collegium Musicale has received several national and international awards from different choral competitions – 3rd prize at international choral festival Tallinn 2011; five 1st prizes and Grand Prix at the 50th Seghizzi International Choral Singing Competition in Gorizia, Italy (2011); 2nd prize and two 1st prizes at in two different category and Special Prize for contemporary music at the 59th choir festival Polifonico 2011 (Italy); 3rd prize at the International Harald Andersén Chamber Choir Competition (Finland, 2016); the winner of the adults category and Grand Prix Silver Rose Bowl at EBU – Let the Peoples Sing choir competition (Finland, 2017).
The choir has collaborated with conductors Tõnu Kaljuste, Andres Mustonen, Aapo Häkkinen (Finland), Kaspars Putninš (Latvia), Jos van Veldhoven (Holland), Simon Carrington (UK), Darrel Ang (Singapur/France), Toomas Vavilov, Mihhail Gerts and with different orchestras and ensembles like Rascher Saxophone Quartet, string quartet Prezioso, Tallinn Chamber Orchestra, Tallinn Baroque Orchestra, Glasperlenspiel Sinfonietta, Corelli Baroque Orchestra, Estonian National Symphony Orchestra, Helsinki Baroque Orchestra, Baroque Orchestra Barrocade (Israel) and others.
Collegium Musicale has performed at concerts and festival in Italy (Gorizia, Arezzo, Rome), France, Russia, Germany, Malta, Poland, Finland, Czech, the Netherlands, Israel, and Japan. The choir has premiered choral pieces by Estonian composers Tõnu Kõrvits and Maria Kõrvits participated in the world premiere performance of Roxanna Panufnik’s Tallinn Mass and given Estonian premiers to Tõnu Kõrvits’s, Erkki-Sven Tüür’s and Lera Auerbach’s music.
Collegium Musicale and Endrik Üksvärav were awarded the Annual Prize of the Endowment for Music of the Cultural Endowment of Estonia (2018). The Estonian Choral Association has named Collegium Musicale the Choir of the Year in 2011, 2015 and 2018 and its conductor Endrik Üksvärav the Young Conductor of the Year in 2011. The choir has released two CDs: Veljo Tormis. Forgotten Peoples (2014) and Peegel peeglis (2012) which received the title Choral CD of the Year 2012 by the Estonian Choral Association.
