7th National Competition of Young Choral Conductors

The 7th National Competition of Young Choral Conductors takes place from October 16 to 19 in Tallinn. The competition amis to discover and foster young talented choir conductors. The participants will work with a mixed choir of the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre, the Estonian National Male Choir, and the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir. The winners will be decided after three rounds in the final concert at the Concert Hall of the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre.

The 2019 jury of the young choral conductors' competition comprises Anders Eby (Sweden), Seppo Murto (Finland), Anu Tali (Estonia), Indrek Vijard (Estonia), and Mikk Üleoja (Estonia).

Participants of the 7th National Competition of Young Choral Conductors are Mariell Aren, Matiss Briedis, Nele Erastus, Danila Frantou, Maarja Helstein, Kuno Kerge, Eleri-Kristel Kuimet, Karin Kuulpak, Ingrit Malleus, Kristel Marand, Kärolin Orav, Jekaterina Pasjutina, Austėja Pėželytė, Oliver Povel-Puusepp, Heldur Harry Põlda, Ode Pürg, Imre Rohuväli, Pärtel Toompere, Edmar Tuul, Leiu Tõnissaar, Pärt Uusberg, and Roland Viilukas.

The National Competition of Young Choral Conductors has been held six times since 1985. The finalists of the competitions over the years include Olari Elts, Jüri Rent, Arvo Volmer, Andres Heinapuu, Hirvo Surva, Mihkel Kütson, Risto Joost, and Mihhail Gerts. The competition is organised by the Estonian Choral Association, the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre, and the Estonian National Male Choir. This year's competition marks the 100th anniversary of the EAMT and 75th anniversary of Estonian National Male Choir.
