As a non-profit organisation financed by the Estonian Ministry of Culture, the Estonian Music Information Centre collects and distributes information about all Estonian professional classical composers, whether alive or deceased. However, EMIC mainly focuses on contemporary professional composers.
Estonian Music Information Centre
- provides, preserves in its databases, displays on the website and distributes information about the composer’s creative activities and work both in Estonia and abroad
- provides and displays on the website news about premieres and other remarkable events related to composer’s creative activities
- collects, archives and catalogues manuscripts, printed editions and sound recordings of compositions and other publications related to the composer
- promotes composer’s work within special projects including publication of CD-s, booklets, books, etc
With its activities, EMIC represents all Estonian contemporary classical music composers as much as possible. To ensure special attention, composer can conclude a Cooperation Contract with EMIC – an agreement expressing mutual interest and will to cooperate, which does not lay down strict legal obligations. The Cooperation Contract can be concluded in EMIC’s office in Tallinn, Kivisilla 4-2.
Distribution of Unpublished Compositions
Upon reaching a special agreement with composer, EMIC may distribute (sell or rent) the scores of his or her unpublished compositions. Distribution terms are laid down in a Distribution Contract concluded between EMIC and the composer in the office, Kivisilla 4-2, Tallinn. Distribution is regulated by General Terms for Distribution of Musical Compositions, Rental Terms, and Rental Price List.
